Neighbor Network

The Neighbor Network is a decentralized community collective supporting autonomous access to books, food, and essential supplies. By mapping verified, neighbor-led resource nodes, we bridge a unified mutual aid ecosystem through three distinct resource models:

  • Little Free Libraries: Small, outdoor book-sharing boxes that function as public exchanges to promote literacy and the love of reading.
  • Little Free Pantries: Neighborhood-based sharing shelves that offer a grassroots, crowd-sourced solution for immediate access to non-perishable food and essential household items.
  • Freedges (Community Fridges): Public refrigerators and freezers used to share surplus fresh food, garden produce, and perishable items at the neighborhood level to reduce food insecurity and waste.

This network operates on the principle of "Give what you can, take what you need," fostering connection between the community and resources while honoring the sovereignty and privacy of every individual.

Groovy Paradox currently stewards various resource nodes in San Antonio, Texas, continuing the work we began previously in Baltimore, Maryland. Resources given are primarily produce grown in our Backyard Sanctuary of Misfits, supplemented by hygienic supplies. Feel free to email us at info@groovyparadox.org with ideas or collaboration requests.

Best Practices for Mindful Sharing
To sustain a healthy, self-governed network, we encourage these community-led habits:

  • Randomize Your Drop-offs: Vary your timing and locations to help maintain a decentralized flow.
  • Ease of Use: Include items that can be used without additional ingredients or tools (ex: pop-top cans, ready-to-eat snacks, or travel-size hygiene products).
  • Resource Integrity: Ensure all packaging of donated items is sealed and uncompromised. Books should be clean and readable.
  • Share Quality: Prioritize fresh items with clear expiration dates.
  • Small & Frequent: Frequent, smaller contributions keep nodes active and ensure resources remain available to many.

Be an active neighbor and join the network:
